Transformation

This blog is about how we change our experience as we change our consciousness. Reality has many layers and is much more fluid than most people understand. The mind can focus consciousness and limit it so we can have certain experiences, it can also make us feel trapped and caged or we can use to to choose to grow in understanding and free ourselves from our cages. This allows us to our greater awareness and tap into unlimited awareness, love and spaciousness.

Both my parents were Jewish atheists. Sometimes people think that is a funny idea, but many Jews stopped believing in “God” after WW II and the Holocaust. I didn’t know and so assumed there wasn’t a God or a Divine force. I just knew that being in my body on this planet seemed totally crazy and full of pain. People said one thing and did another. They said they loved you but were scared sad or angry much of the time. I wanted to find a way out of my pain. Music, psychology, romance and spiritual awakening were my routes.

When I was in college I’d argue with my dorm friends who believed in God because they were told to, and they accepted the authority of others, like the churches to know more then they did. They never talked about having an experience or understanding, but just accepted what they were told. To me back then, that kind of faith seemed like wishful thinking at best or really more like some kind of superstition or addiction.  So later when I started having mystical experiences, it was scary. I thought I was going nuts, because what I believed  was reality started to change.  I have been going through these shifts in my understaning since I was in my early twenties. Now I have learned how to befriend the fear that arises at transformational times. It is a sign that the curtain of an old form is about to close so a new act can begin.
